From the director of A Silent Voice, a serenely beautiful coming of age anime bursting with colour and song. A trio of misfits find each other.

From the director of the acclaimed A Silent Voice, a new coming-of-age ‘lofi girl’ anime bursting with colour and music. A trio of sensitive misfits find the friendship and support they need when they form a band.

Pure-hearted Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see others as colours. Fellow student Kimi has dropped out of school but still pretends to attend for her grandmother’s sake, while actually working at a bookshop during the day. Totsuko thinks Kimi gives off the most beautiful colour of all.

City-based they form a band with Rui, living on an island, who dreams of being a musician but is scared to break with the family tradition of being the island’ s family doctor. Catching a ferry on the weekends, the girls join Rui in secret in the island’s old church to write songs and make music. The three form a stirring, affectionate friendships and through music they overcome the pressure of their teenage years. They find the courage to ask their parents and guardians to be allowed to have their own dreams.

Composer Kensuke Ushio blends a low-fi soundtrack with beautiful animation from Takashi Kojima to create a tranquil, serene anime.
