Pixar's Inside Out 2 had grossed $2.3 billion by 1 September. That's Hollywood for you. But Australia can be proud of its animated feature mini boom: Memoir of a Snail won the top prize at the world's most prestigious animation festival, Annecy; the first AFFIF and FilmLab animation feature Lesbian Space Princess will premiere at AFF2024; and 30 years after its publication, the classic children's book Magic Beach is now a film which had its world premiere in August at the Melbourne International Film Festival. Speakers include Ken Anderson, co-founder Wild Child Animation, UK, Leela Varghese and Luke Jurevicius (The Adventures of Figaro Pho, Horace in Slow Motion).
