103 MinsAll-American teens Esther, Noor, Noah, Mfaz and Sam spend their year juggling the highs and lows of high school life, while preparing for the world’s largest and most intense public speaking competition, the NSDA Nationals.
In this up-close documentary we follow five contenders, amongst a competition of hundreds, on their journey to be heard. Turning their personal stories of prejudice, grief, and sibling love into articulately crafted original speeches, these young orators follow in the footsteps of notable public figures Josh Gad, Oprah, Bruce Springsteen, Ketanji Brown Jackson and many more. Co-directors Jennifer Tiexiera and Guy Mossman spin an aspirational story with a spotlight on five top competitors in the ‘Super Bowl of public speaking’, and the challenges they face in and out of competition.
They’re not just vying for the top prize; they’re fighting for their nine minutes to change the way people think about the world.
