Based upon the 2014 stage play by David Haig, Pressure is a white-knuckle war story that casts the real-life 72 hours leading up to WWII D-Day in a different light: through the weather. General Dwight D. Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser) faces the impossible choice of launching the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war. He turns to venerated Scottish meteorologist James Stagg (Andrew Scott) to predict the weather on the day of the planned attack, but Stagg’s advice differs from the others. While essentially a chamber piece taking place between titans of war, Pressure ratchets up the heat, both emotionally and barometrically, and provides the perfect material to showcase the talents of its acclaimed cast including Kerry Condon (Eisenhower’s secretary, Kay Summersby) and Damian Lewis (British general, Bernard Montgomery). At an economic 100-minute running time, Pressure delivers a tense, edge-of-seat experience from start to finish.
